Minutes from last night. Look at me I'm on the ball!

Hey everybody, we just had the first GAGG meeting of the year and it was great to see so many new faces about, along with our returning members. We even managed to fill the room. So here are the highlights.

1. On Friday September 29th Gagg will be running a gaming event in the Knight Spot. The games will run from 10pm-2am so stop by, there will be games, food, and a free raffle.

2. There is a minicon planned for September 19th come to the union, meet alumni, play some of the longer games you don't usually get the chance to.

3. For new members(we actually have some, YAY US!!!) our website is gagg.geneseo.edu, and if you know anyone who would like to be on the mailing list mail their email address to cre3@geneseo.edu, also if you would like to be added to the forums fill out the form and send me an email and I'll d my best to get you on.

4. We have new games which are cool and you should come to meetings to play them(or borrow them from 130B anytime you want, just as long as you bring the games back, we will put an agent on you if you don’t)

5. Certain people play Left4dead and Unreal Tournament on Fridays in South Hall 328, you are advised to bring a 2-button mouse if you have one.

6. There will be a Magic: The Gathering draft 1pm saturday upstairs in the Union(most likely in room 300)

7. Safety Warning: Running from the top of the hill in sandals is a really bad idea and should only be done if you are late for a GAGG meeting or the birth of your first child.

8. Tim will be running a CCG(thats Collectible Card Game for the uninitiated) called Legend of the 5 Rings after the meeting next week, there will be free cards to take home.

9. Warning! this is a shameless plug for an event in which GAGG has no part, just something you might be interested in, if you haven't seen any of the posters yet Star Trek will be showing at Onondaga Field tomorrow, thursday night, at 9PM, its a fantastic movie.

10. Foz is attempting to contract with Jeff Rowland of http://www.overcompensating.com Joey Comeau of http://www.asofterworld.com and Chris Hastings of http://www.drmcninja.com for them to come to Running GAGG this year so check out the comics.

11. Speaking of Running GAGG it is rapidly approaching on the 5th-7th of February. As a reminder to veteran member and to inform new members the Con name is "Running GAGG 15, the search for Running GAGG 14" (for you new people, trust us it doesn't make any more sense after its ben completely explained to you, the best explanation I've got for you is that we considered a lot of names, the club voted on them, and the majority(the significant majority actually) thought that was the best option of the ones presented)

Minutes from 9/9:

Hey guys, sry about the late minutes, life's been crazy heres the deal:

1. We started the meeting with the introduction of the eboard, Issac Lebwohl-Steiner(President), Anders Korn (Vice president), Melissa Fox(Treasurer), Christopher Ecklund(Secretary+Dicebag), Mark Lambert(WOMPA+Toy boy), Mike (Eunuch)

2. Theres a really fun cool Minicon coming up on the 19th, hope to see everyone there. As usual we will be taking over the union for the day and Alums will be there(hopefully). Its a great chance to try out some of the longer games you've always wanted to!

3. The GAGG eboard members have been hard at work(shocking I know) and with the help of Late Knight and CAS will be running an event in the Knight Spot on the 25th. Fun, fellowship, and free stuff(in the form of food and a free raffle). It starts at 10pm and runs till 2am

4. Inquisitor will be running this year. There was an interest meeting at 1 pm on sunday. My deepest apologies for sending this out too late for those who would have liked to go to that meeting. If you're interested in playing this year it will most likely be thursday evenings, but that is subject to change. If you're wondering what Inquisitor is exactly, and have some spare time,

Otherwise, it's a skirmish action game wherein the players take
characters from the dark science fantasy of the Warhammer 40k universe and
become a part of a warband usually lead by an Inquisitor. This involves
anything from epic sword duels to psychic powers to 80's action movie
gunfights and beyond. Come try it out.

Joe Dolce, the Instructional Technologies manager at CIT Newton, is looking for some players for a Necessary Evil campaign. The game will not be using the Necessary Evil setting, but will instead involve supers in a semi-realistic modern setting, where the existence of super-powers is not widely known (a la Heroes). They should also have a reason to be at Empire State University (student, faculty, janitor, etc.) Power will be street level heroes, think Spider-man or Daredevil, not Superman or Thor.

Anyone who is interested should contact RIG, or send a character concept to dolce@geneseo.edu

If you'd like access to the forums, either

We (and by we I mean Shawn) recently upgraded the forums and enhanced the Turing elements so I'm not getting thousands of requests a day (mostly from Russia). Actually, if this works out we might turn off requiring activation and everything will be easier.

Minutes from 9/16

Hello again all, yes I'm actually getting these out on time for once! But first a correction and apology. I incorrectly stated that Mike was our Eunuch , when it is in fact Tim Parrotte, also because the minutes were so late last week few people knew about the Inquisitor information meeting. My apologies to both parties. Now, onto this weeks minutes:

1. A welcome to all the new people who are getting this for the first time!

2. For those new members out there I will say again the ranking positions in GAGG: President(Isaac Lebwohl-Steiner), Vice President(Anders Korn), Treasurer (Melissa Fox), Secretary/Dice Bag(Chris Ecklund), WOMPA/Toy boy(Mark Lambert), Eunuch(Tim Parrotte), this will hopefully be the last time I send out this list of positions this semester, but we do have an event coming up that might bring in more new people so you never know.

3. Minicon is this saturday, it should be fun for all of you who go, show up whenever you want but most things will start at noon, its held upstairs in the Union(yes, the ENTIRE upstairs in the union)

4. There will be another event taking place next friday, the 25th, from 10pm-2am, which GAGG will be hosting. The festivities will be going down in the Knight Spot, thus we are calling it GameSpot with GAGG. Come enjoy the gaming, free food, and free prizes!

5. If you want to get on the forums please go to gagg.geneseo.edu and submit an application. Please use your geneseo email for quickest approval, otherwise send an email to me (cre3@geneseo.edu) telling me that you wnt to be approved and including when you submitted the application and what name you submitted to be approved. I'll get you approved as quickly as I can.

6. The eBoard s now asking that any members who have game systems they would be willing to allow us to use for meetings please let us know, or just bring them in. They'll be greatly appreciated

7. I will be running a one shot next week fr those who are interested.

8. This Sunday, the 13th, there will be an interest/introduction meeting for
the Games Workshop RPG Inquisitor at 1:00 pm in Union 330. No materials
are necessary to bring, but measuring tapes and dice are welcomed. This
first meeting will be simply to introduce new players to the system,
reorient old hands, and have fun killing things.

He's willing to deal with us(though the store owner isn't because he's a $*@^%!&$#) so if you're looking for a game call Venom up at 585-427-2190 and give him your credit card(or debit card) number, your name, and that you're a GAGG member over the phone and he'll bring your game to the next meeting(you will have to be there to pick it up or it may disappear at the end of the meeting into the GAGG Closet of No Return)

A prerelease for Zendikar is coming out this weekend, if you have a car and are willing to drive people up to rochester for it please say so on the forums.

Minutes from 9/30

Hey everyone! Another successful week in the wonderful world of GAGG. Here's what happened at the meeting:

#1 UT/Left4Dead Fridays are coming back, come enjoy the LAN game

#2 For those who don't know, RunningGAGG is our Yearly convention, lots of alumni and other gamers come from all over to enjoy 3 full days of gaming, join us and see what all the hype is about, and if you've been part of this wonderful time before and wished for something while there, or even if you've never been but want to have your ideas heard, join us for Con meetings Wednesdays night at 7(be forewarned those who participate in deciding on special super secret RunningGAGG business cannot participate in said business during the con, therefore if you want to participate in the Con meeting but not the special super secret business, let us know so we can discuss it elsewhere)

#3 The Late Knight event of last Friday went very well, though it was decided that in future there should be no pretzels, if you have any other ideas for improvements you'd like to see happen email me at polernotheloud@gmail.com, or if you want to say how much fun you had and support future events contact our President at inl1@geneseo.edu

#4 We are officially Eunuch-less, the current nominations stand thus: Adam Urbanic, Kara James, That Guy Over There, and Chris Ecklund. Current public opinion seems to strongly favor Adam Urbanic, but I have a feeling that That Guy Over There but make a strong showing, come throw your hat into the ring and get involved in the excitement, the drama, and the high adventure of GAGG politics, or at least come to vote next meeting.

Minutes from 10/7

Hey everybody, breaks over and so we're gonna get you ba into the school spirit with minutes! YAY! heres what went on:

1. Computers- South 328 4PM fridays until whenever, the GAGG eBoard does not officially recognize this meeting item.

2. Elections were held, and despite strong showings for other perfectly valid(ish, considering kara was the only other candidate who could really be considered) candidates Adam won in a landslide with 19 votes, the next highest candidate recieved 4. This victory comes at a cost though, as the club subsequently unanimously voted that he is not allowed to change the name of the position, so Ada Urbanic is our new Eunuch, whether he likes it or not.

3. If you have ideas for events for GAGG to run let us know. by coming to eBoard meetings between 6PM-7PM and Con meetings from 7PM-8PM, these are the official times, though not everyone always shows up for all of that time. We look forward to getting your input.

4. Anders will be running Battle for Wesnoth (download free version here) during this weeks GAGG meeting. It should be a ood time s bring your laptop and play.

Hey everybody! Time for the minutes:

#1 We have been told that UT should definitely be up in south hall by 4PM Friday, so it should definitely definitely be happening this week, I'm not really sure who is supposed to be setting up the servers bt if someone who knows how would be there that would be great.

#2 The Battle for Wesnoth raged at GAGG this week and I'm told it was great fun! We may run htis again in the future so keep an eye out if you're interested.

#3 Come join us on the GAGG website, or register with the GAGG MESSAGE BOARDS<insert Lens Flare>, please register on the forums with a geneseo email address for quickest response, if you need to register with another kind of email address or you have some problem getting registered please contact me with your name, the neame you are trying to register, and your problem.(Failure to include all of these things in your email may result in a potentially snarky reply)

#4 Humans vs. Zombies is going on this weekend, register with the facebook group if you want to get shot up with Nerf Guns

I've missed the past couple of weeks. Here we go with the catch up:

10-21

Here's the minutes for ya, you know, in case you're interested:

1. Come visit us on the forums at well... here, register with a geneseo email address and gain access to all of the world changing information stored therein.

2, The website is being updated about biweekly now, check it out, and say thank you to Isaac if you see him.

3. Event registration is up, register to run a game at running gagg and be awesome!

4. Con/eBoard meetings are at 6:45 and 7 on Wednesdays, but we're willing to be flexible on that if it will get people to actually show up, and if you have an idea please find an eBoard member or mail me back at polernotheloud@gmail.com and we'll see what we can do.

5. We're looking at doing some Late knight events in the future so keep an eye out for that, and Anime club is putting on a Costume bash this saturday night at 9pm in the Knightspot, so go check it out.

6. Nominations for eBoard positions start in 2 weeks, so if you want to vote start showing up to meetings, it looks as though at least the secretary position will be opening up, we're looking especially at freshman to step up this time so come around and get involved, or at least vote so you'll continue to have an eBoard that bothers to actually do stuff, not that I'm pointing any fingers...

7. As always RunningGAGG is ever so rapidly approaching. Don't get run over, theres maniacs driving this year.

there was no oneshot at the meeting this week and there won't be one next week, but the following week I'll be running a 6th level game for anyone interested, from now on I'll be announcing the level of the next oneshot I will be running in the minutes, so if you want to come make a character and show up(Games may be cancelled at the last minute due to lack of interest, time, or other emegencies)
There will be a Ravnica draft within the next 2 weeks, its gonna be a little more expensive than the usual draft, but thats only because Ravnica was such a great set and supplies are so hard to come by, keep eye and an ear out for it if you're interested.
Humans vs. Zombies starts today (Friday), but we are NOT AFFILIATED with this. Especially if they get into trouble. You have to sign up for this event on the Facebook event and, I believe though I may be wrong, at the reslife office, again, not sure about that second part. VIVA LA RESISTANCE!!!!

Near as I can tell UT fridays are happening at 4, if someone who knows how to set up the server could be there that would be great. Thats happening in the lab upstairs in South.

I will still be coming to the eBoard/Con meetings and performing many of the jobs, so if you'd like to be more involved, and don't want to have to work terribly hard join as Secretary.

- Next week I will be running a oneshot. Please prep characters beforehand if you'd like to play. If you don't have the necessary books, I would direct you HERE!. It will be a 3.5 edition oneshot. You may have any nonmagical equipment, but I do reserve the right to review your equipment and remove any equipment that I feel is unreasonable. All characters must be Gnomes. You may use any Core class, if you wish to use anything non-Core, please email me at polernotheloud@gmail.com, I check my email quite often and will be happy to respond. The situation is that you must hold a cavern against a horde of Orcs. There will be a total of 5 entrances/exits to the Cavern, 3 of which hostiles will be pouring through. you have the resources of the gnomish military behind you, and one players has already agreed to play a Demolitions expert, so there will be explosives as well. You'll have 2 (in game) days to set up your cavern and the surrounding tunnels. I'm giving you all this information almost a week in advance so think about what you would like to do, and how you would prep the cavern. I will be accepting up to 6 players, and I've already got 2 for sure.

Minutes for 11/4

1. There is a Minicon this Saturday starting at 1, it will be upstairs in the Union, alumni will be there, and I will be running a workshop to teach how to run oneshots starting at 4:30

2. Event Registration is up, please go and register to run, remember if no one runs games then no one gets to play games.

3. Nominations have started for the eBoard and minister positions

4. Elections will be held on 12/2

5. If you would like to run a big name event the nplease contact the eBoard before next wednesday or come to the eboard/con meeting on wednesday

Minutes from 11/11:

Hey everybody, it is time once again to do the minutes, where those of you who couldn't make it to this weeks meeting will learn of all the fun exciting things that happened there, and those who did can relive the glory moments. Here we go:

Agenda:

1. Event registration is up, people are submitting for time slots, join the proud and noble crowd of people signing up to run events and help earn money for GAGG games. Also don't forget to sign up for games, and register for the con!

2. Nominations have finished this week, they stand thus: President-Isaac Lebwohl-Steiner, VP-Anders Korn, Secretary-Kara, Treasurer-Melissa Fox, WAMPA-Eric, Toyboy-Tiger, Eunuch-Adam Urbanic, Dicebag-Adam S., Christopher Ecklund, Boost- Cat, Kate, Rob, John

3. With the end of nominations there is no reason to wait for elections! They will be taking place next week, the previously set date was due to a small miscalculation with regards to when thanksgiving is taking place. Therefore elections will definitely be next week, coem and vote, or don't complain about the results!

4. The Mini-Con went reasonably well on Saturday, not a many people as the first one, but everyone seemed to have a good time!

5. RunningGAGG is rapidly approaching, for real this time!

John ran a oneshot this week and it was a lot of fun, Kara will be running one next week, so talk to her if you want to be involved. Members are reminded that they are encouraged to run on Wednesdays and that if they communicate to me beforehand I will be more than happy to not run for that week.

If anyone is interested in learning to create characters for D20 Modern, which is very similar to D&D 3.5 except in the modern age, I will be in the Union between 4 and 6 next wednesday afternoon, come to that and then stay for the eBoard/Con meeting!
